Come join us at John and Kim Scarborough’s house this Sunday, Aug. 9th (5-7pm) for our “Back to School” pool party.  We have had a great summer and now it’s time to go out with a bang before school starts back.  There will be games, food, and of course swimming.  Girls, if you wear a two-piece swimsuit, make sure it’s modest, and guys, no speedos!  And, don’t forget to bring a friend.

Registration for OnMission is now open until July 1st!

Missions doesn’t just have to happen in another country or even another city.  Missions happens every day, right where you are.  Join Cornerstone Youth July 6-10, 2009, 8am-5pm each day, for OnMission, an opportunity to reach out to our own community, serve those who usually don’t get served, worship together, and show Christ’s love to people in the Auburn/Opelika area.  The cost is $50 per student, which includes our end of the week trip.

You don’t want to miss this week.  We are going to have an amazing, and FUN, time serving our community and working side by side to glorify God through our serivce.

Life Groups will be starting up next Wedensday, June 24th!  We will meet at noon in the Cornerstone worship area and eat lunch together.  Then we will split up into guys and girls groups to study different men and women in the Bible.  You don’t have to register, just show up and dive into Scripture with us.  Study materials will be provided for you, and all you need to bring is your Bible and yourself!  For more information about Life Groups and a schedule of meeting dates check out the Life Group page www.cornerstonebuzz.org/youth/ministries/life-groups-2/

Come dressed in your favorite retro outfit, bring a friend, and be ready to do some skating!!  This Sunday, June 7th, 5:15-7:15 at The Learning Zone (formerly Lambert’s Skate Center).   The cost is $5 per student for skate rentals and the snack bar will be open if you want to purchase any snacks.

We are going to have a great time, and you don’t want to miss it!!

You won’t want to miss it!!

In celebration of Palm Sunday, we changed things up a bit for youth. Instead of playing a game and going crazy, we had a very calm environment in order to prepare our students for what was to come. We began the night with dinner, served by our parents. What an awesome experience for the students and leaders to see the hearts of adults in our church serving us! After dinner, we came together and Amy led us in lesson on the history and significance of Passover (Exodus 12 and Luke 22.7-24). It was the first time many of our students had heard the connection between the Passover of the Israelites in Egypt and the Passover supper with Jesus and his disciples, so the students were challenged to look at the Last Supper in a whole new way. After dinner, Josh led us in Communion and in to our five stations that were set up around the room. The stations began with Communion, followed by foot washing of the students done by our youth leaders, nailing of our sins to the cross, writing and covering of our sins in the sand, and finally a prayer wall. 

God showed up on Sunday night! It was so humbling to watch the Holy Spirit move in the lives of our students. We as leaders were blessed to be a part of the movement and to serve our students in such a unique way.
