Lead Pastor

Rusty was appointed by the Methodist Church in 1999 to start a new church in Auburn which would later become Cornerstone. Rusty graduated from Mercer University in GA where, in 1989, he received his BA in Fine Art. He answered the call to ministry in 1992 and attended Asbury Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity degree. Site Pastor, Lee-Scott

Josh, an Auburn native, is a 1998 graduate of Auburn University. After 6 years in the business world he found Christ leading him to a new kind of vocation…full-time ministry. He went on to graduate from Asbury Theological Seminary and was finally led back to Cornerstone in 2007. Josh is married to Leslie and they have three kids, Benjamin, Liza and Grace. read more…

 

Brian Johnson Worship Leader

Creative / Worship Leader

Brian is a pastor, musician, and writer leading Creative Arts at Cornerstone since November 2007. He holds an MDS degree from Liberty University focused in Music, English and Religion. For 10 years, Brian traveled the country leading worship for mission groups and churches in Birmingham and Atlanta. Brian and his wife Kristen are passionate about leading authentic worship that steers people to genuine transformation. read more…

Jack Fisher

Administrator

Jack graduated from Auburn in 1984 with a degree in Communication and Public Relations. He spent two decades as a leader / owner in the restaurant industry before becoming Executive Director of the Lee County Humane Society. In 2000, God led him to Cornerstone where he joined the staff in December 2006. He is married to Amy and between them they have five children; Malone, Simms, Katy, Mike and Townsend. read more…

Building Superintendent

Franklin has been on the staff at Cornerstone longer than anyone except Rusty. He is our building superintendent and has the nickname “MacGyver” because he can fix anything. Franklin has a degree from the Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquaculture at Auburn University. Franklin is married to Amy and they have two great kids, Sidney and Maggie.

Administrative Assistant

Lynn joined the Cornerstone staff as Administrative Assistant in March 2006. Lynn and her husband Buddy moved to Auburn six years ago and have two sons, Josh – seminary student and Jake – musician. Lynn enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her family.

 

Kelly Cadden

Elementary Ministry Coordinator

Kelly, originally from the Atlanta area, has been attending Cornerstone since Fall 2006. She graduated from Auburn University in 2008 with a B.S. in Communication Disorders. She and her husband, Dan, have been married since March 2009. Kelly is passionate about showing kids how much fun it can be to learn about their Lord and Savior. Kelly is also an Auburn University graduate student studying Speech Pathology. In her spare time she enjoys reading, playing on the lake, and hunting with her hubby.

Director of College Ministries

Lee is truthfully an adventurer at heart. He and his wife, Lacey, graduated from Auburn University (2006 and 2004) and have spent the last three years following the Lord, from Nashville to China and back to Auburn in 2008. His heart beats for college and university students to claim their roles as sons and daughters of the King and step into their place in the greatest story ever told…wherever He may lead. read more…

Courtney Cloud

Early Childhood Coordinator

Courtney Cloud joined the Cornerstone Church staff in March of 2010 as a Ministry Assistant in Seaside. She had previously been on staff as a teacher in the Foundations preschool program at Cornerstone. She and her husband Bryant have been members at Cornerstone since 2005. They have called Auburn home for the past nine years. She is currently serving as Early Childhood Coordinator and is in charge of coordinating volunteers and staff for this area.

Children’s Site Director, Lee-Scott

Beth grew up in the New Orleans area, came to Auburn University in 2000, and then to Cornerstone in 2003. Beth has a B.S. and M. Ed. in Elementary Education and taught upper elementary grades in the area public schools for 8 years. She loves leading kids to know and serve Jesus and came on staff at Cornerstone in 2011 to lead Cornerstone Kids for our first multi-site launch at Lee-Scott. Beth is married to Nic, and they have a precious daughter, Avery.

 

Ashley Coxwell

Graphic Designer

Ashley is excited about using her passion for visual communication to serve at Cornerstone. She has a precious son, Micah, who is her constant source of inspiration and giggles. She is completing her degree in Graphic Design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online. She enjoys art and design, music, changing hair colors, and everyday adventures with Micah.

Communication and Volunteer Coordinator

Julia graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991 with a B.A. in Religious Studies. She is married to Ben, and they have 4 children, Abby, Joseph, Meredith and Gabe. Her family moved to Auburn from Nashville in 2006. She enjoys scrapbooking, exercising, AU athletics and Auburn Thunder soccer.

 

Scott Fillmer, IT Director

Scott Fillmer

Tech and Finance Director

Scott joined Cornerstone in December 2008 in the newly created position of IT Director and resident photographer. Prior to coming on staff, Scott owned his own business with his wife, Deborah. He graduated from UAB with a degree in Accounting and is currently attending Liberty Theological Seminary working on a Master of Divinity degree. Deanna is a graduate of Auburn University and has a Masters degree from the University of Montevallo. She has been in education for almost 30 years and has lived in Auburn for the past 5 years. Youth Ministry Coordinator

Ginny graduated from Mississippi College with a B.A. in Communications. She is married to John and they have 3 children, Camp, Kathleen and Maggie. Her family moved to Auburn in January 2009. She enjoys traveling, cooking and reading.

 

Jill Harris

Jill Harris

Director of Children’s Ministries

Jill, her husband Dan and children R.J., Hope and Sam came to Cornerstone in 2005. She has more than 15 years experience serving in pre-school and children’s ministries. She holds a B.S. from the University of Maine and a M.S. from American University in Washington, D.C. Her professional experience includes marketing and managing wellness programs and teaching physical education. She enjoys traveling with family and running.

Worship Leader, Lee-Scott

Jon has been in ministry for the past 12 years and has a passion for art and for incorporating the arts into the church. He loves leading people in worship as well as writing and directing music for the church. Jon has spent the majority of his adult life in the southeast as a worship leader and a teacher. He has an education degree from Auburn University in Montgomery. Jon and his wife, Kathy, have a firm belief in the mission and values of Cornerstone Church and love being involved in ministry here.

Small Group Ministry Coordinator

Originally from Washington D.C., April received her B.A. from Auburn in 1995. She and her husband David moved to Auburn in 2000 and have been members at Cornerstone since 2005. Before starting their family, April worked in healthcare administration. She enjoys sports and traveling, and is passionate about discipleship. April and David have three children – Lindsey, Ben, and Erin.

 

Jonathan Savage

Director of Mission Strategy & Production

Jonathan joined the staff in August of 2011 coming from a background in business management, marketing, and technology services. A 2001 graduate of Auburn University, he and his wife, Amanda, have been a part of Cornerstone since May of 2009. Jonathan really enjoys helping people build Godly relationships through service and furthering the mission of the church.

Keri Spurlin

Kids Creative Arts Coordinator

Keri is a 2008 graduate of Auburn University, receiving a B.A. in Public Relations and a minor in music. Since 2010, she has worked as the preschool music teacher and newsletter writer for Foundations Preschool and in 2011, began serving as the Creative Arts Coordinator for Cornerstone Kids. Keri enjoys using her passions for singing, songwriting, production and fitness to teach and keep up with each child at Cornerstone Church.
