Cornerstone Connect is for those who want to see who we are, what we believe and where we are going as a church, whether you’re new to Cornerstone or you’ve been attending for a while. It’s also a great way to find out how to take those “next steps” to serving and small groups. This is required for anyone who is interested in joining Cornerstone.

• Enjoy fellowship and refreshments while the leadership team shares Cornerstone’s mission and vision.
• Learn about discipleship, small groups, volunteering and how to engage in mission.
• Connect with key leaders in each of these areas to discover how you can get plugged in.

We become what we are committed to. By the end of the class, you will understand what next steps you can take to be more committed to Christ and Cornerstone. Childcare is available by reservation. Cornerstone Connect Registration

• Pick up a box and packing list on Sunday morning in the Cornerstone lobby (please do not deviate from this list or leave it in the box when returning it to Cornerstone).
• Pack the box full of food for families in Lee County.
• Return the filled box to the church by January 1, 2012.
• Saturday, January 7, gather at Cornerstone and pack the SUV’s, minivans and pickup trucks with these boxes and head out to specific communities to pass out these boxes to families in our area. (We will work with the Food Bank of East Alabama to target the communities in the greatest need.)

Would you like to donate a Food Box in someone’s honor? Once you’ve returned the full box, stop by the information desk for a recognition card.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in someone’s life by offering basic necessities that many of us take for granted. So let’s make the New Year great for our community with our simple gift of a box of food.

FOOD DROP 2012 – SATURDAY, JANUARY 7

Be at the church at 8:30 am to help load vehicles and then head out to communities identified by the Food Bank of East Alabama. We should be finished by 12 noon. No registration is necessary, however, if you have a large truck or trailer that can be used to transport these boxes, please email Jonathan Savage at jonathan@cornerstonebuzz.org.

FD-12 Packing List

This list of non-perishable items was selected as they will provide a family of four (two adults & two young children) with three meals a day for two days. These items were also chosen because they require minimal cooking facilities. Please do not deviate from this list or leave it in the box when returning it to Cornerstone.

• 2 Regular Boxes of Cereal (no large boxes)
• 2 Macaroni and cheese dinners
• 1 Pound of rice
• 1 Jar of Peanut Butter and a jar of jelly
• 1 Box of crackers
• 3 Cans of meat (like tuna)
• 2 Cans of Soup
• 3 Cans of vegetables (yellow or green)
• 1 Pound of noodles or spaghetti
• 1 Jar of spaghetti sauce
• 2 Cans of pork and beans
• 2 Cans of Fruit
• 1 (4 roll) package of toilet paper

Are you looking for a way to connect with others at Cornerstone? Wanting to grow in your relationship with Christ? Then come to the tent on January 22 where you will meet some new people and visit with leaders while learning about small groups and finding your place to get plugged in at Cornerstone. If you are a college student, be our guest for a free home-cooked meal! No registration required. Meat and bread will be provided by Cornerstone, however, we need the Cornerstone family to contribute casseroles, vegetables, desserts and salads (in disposable containers, please). Christmas Eve Candlelight Services
5 pm: Childcare is available for infants through 2 years old, although all children are encouraged to attend the service.
6:30 pm: No childcare is available.

Get in the Christmas spirit with Martha’s Trouble. This concert will be a mix of some Martha’s Trouble classic songs that so many fans have come to love, along with some of your favorite Christmas songs like “The Little Drummer Boy” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. Martha’s Trouble also throws in a few “original” Christmas tunes too!

The mix of the Christmas songs inter-weaved throughout the set list along with the traditional Holiday “Cheer” in the air make these concerts different from the norm and a truly unique experience during this time of year! This Christmas show will benefit one of Cornerstone’s local ministry partners, The Big House in Opelika. Visit The Big House to learn more about this ministry.

This unique Christmas experience is for everyone, so there will be no childcare available.

Help show the love of Christ with no strings attached during one of the busiest and often most stressful times of the year. Cornerstone will be wrapping gifts, free of charge, for shoppers at Tiger Town. This is a great opportunity for individuals, small groups and families to serve our community.

We are putting together a “Launch Team” of individuals who would like to step forward in their faith and join us in becoming a multi-site church with our new site at Lee-Scott Academy. If you are interested in being a part of the Launch Team, we ask that you do three things:

1. Complete a Launch Team Commitment Card. These are available at the information desk in the church lobby.
2. Register for and attend one of the four Launch Team Meetings (see information below).
3. Attend the Launch Team Rally at Lee-Scott on Sunday, November 13, (details coming soon).

Whether you’ve already committed to being a part of the Launch Team or you’re just interested in learning more, come spend an evening with our leadership as we share the vision and latest details about our new Lee-Scott Academy location. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions as well as fellowship with others that God is calling toward this movement. There are four meetings to choose from:

Cornerstone Church is partnering with Alabama Rural Ministries (ARM) as a host church for “Make A Difference Day”. “Make A Difference Day” is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October and is the most encompassing national day of helping others — a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone can participate.  By participating, ARM makes it possible to serve families in Lee and Macon county through home repair.

In addition to hosting, Cornerstone will have two teams that will go out into the community to do minor home repairs for local families in need. We’re looking for volunteers of all skill levels to serve on work crews as well as helping to prepare breakfast for the 200+ volunteers. Breakfast will begin at 7:30 am, and teams will head out by 8:15 am. Each site is scheduled to wrap up around 4 pm or sooner. Volunteers need to bring brown bag lunches, a water bottle and work gloves. Tools and materials will be provided on the sites. Childcare is not available.
