Senior Pastor

Rusty was appointed by the Methodist Church in 1999 to start a new church in Auburn which would later become Cornerstone. Rusty graduated from Mercer University in GA where, in 1989, he received his BA in Fine Art. He answered the call to ministry in 1992 and attended Asbury Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity degree. Pastor of Connections

Josh, an Auburn native, is a 1998 graduate of Auburn University. After 6 years in the business world he found Christ leading him to a new kind of vocation…full-time ministry. He went on to graduate from Asbury Theological Seminary and was finally led back to Cornerstone in 2007. Josh is married to Leslie and they have three kids, Benjamin, Liza and Grace. read more…

Creative / Worship Leader

Brian is a pastor, musician, and writer leading Creative Arts at Cornerstone since November 2007. He holds an MDS degree from Liberty University focused in Music, English and Religion. For 10 years, Brian traveled the country leading worship for mission groups and churches in Birmingham and Atlanta. Brian and his wife Kristen are passionate about leading authentic worship that steers people to genuine transformation. read more…

Administrator

Jack graduated from Auburn in 1984 with a degree in Communications and Public Relations. He spent two decades as a leader / owner in the restaurant industry before becoming Executive Director of the Lee County Humane Society. In 2000, God led him to Cornerstone where he joined the staff in December 2006. He is married to Amy and between them they have five children; Malone, Simms, Katy, Mike and Townsend. read more…

Building Superintendent

Franklin has been on the staff at Cornerstone longer than anyone except Rusty. He is our building superintendent and has the nickname “MacGyver” because he can fix anything. Franklin has a degree from the Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquaculture at Auburn University. Franklin is married to Amy and they have two great kids, Sydney and Maggie.

Administrative Assistant

Lynn joined the Cornerstone staff as Administrative Assistant in March 2006. Lynn and her husband Buddy moved to Auburn six years ago and have two sons, Josh – seminary student and Jake – musician. Lynn enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her family.

Director of College Ministries

Lee is truthfully an adventurer at heart. He and his wife, Lacey, graduated from Auburn University (2006 and 2004) and have spent the last three years following the Lord, from Nashville to China and back to Auburn in 2008. His heart beats for college and university students to claim their roles as sons and daughters of the King and step into their place in the greatest story ever told…wherever He may lead. read more…

Youth Minister

Amy graduated from Union University in 2005 with a B.A. in Christian Studies and received her Master’s in Christian Education from Southwestern Seminary in 2008. She loves hanging out with teenagers, listening to Dave Barnes, reading thought-provoking books, and traveling to new places.

Graphic Designer

Ashley is excited about using her passion for visual communication to serve at Cornerstone. She has a precious son, Micah, who is her constant source of inspiration and giggles. She is completing her degree in Graphic Design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online. She enjoys art and design, music, changing hair colors, and everyday adventures with Micah.

Communications and Volunteer Coordinator

Julia graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991 with a B.A. in Religious Studies. She is married to Ben, and they have 4 children, Abby, Joseph, Meredith and Gabe. Her family moved to Auburn from Nashville in 2006. She enjoys scrapbooking, exercising, AU athletics and Auburn Thunder soccer.

Scott Fillmer, IT Director

IT Director

Scott joined Cornerstone in December 2008 in the newly created position of IT Director and resident photographer. Prior to coming on staff, Scott owned his own business with his wife, Deborah. He graduated from UAB with a degree in Accounting and is currently attending Liberty Theological Seminary working on a Master of Divinity degree. Deanna is a graduate of Auburn University and has a Masters degree from the University of Montevallo. She has been in education for almost 30 years and has lived in Auburn for the past 5 years. She is married to Richard and has two daughters.

Mark Fuller

Building Coordinator

Mark, is a former baseball player and pitching coach who played in the NY Mets and Colorado Rockies organizations. After graduating from Auburn with a degree in Communications he joined the staff of Cornerstone in October 2008. Mark and his wife, Lori, have two sons Brooks and Brady, and own Sports Academy in Auburn/Opelika.

Jill Harris

Jill Harris

Director of Early Childhood Ministries

Jill, her husband Dan and their children R.J., Hope and Sam have been members of Cornerstone since 2005. Jill has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine and a master’s from American University in Washington, D.C. Her experience includes working as a P.E. teacher, girls’ soccer coach, church nursery director as well as managing corporate health and wellness programs. Jill enjoys running, and spending time with family.

Production Director

Dan has been on staff with Cornerstone since May 2008. Coming from Grace Campus Ministries, he took a spot as Production Coordinator, where he has been serving through everything from service and event planning to growing and training volunteers.

Michael McClendon

Michael McClendon

Director of Elementary Ministries

Michael is a Birmingham native. He graduated from UAB with a BA in Communication Studies. Michael and his wife Meredith have been married since October 2006. They spent two years in Los Angeles before moving to Auburn in July of 2009 to join the Cornerstone staff. Michael has several years of experience teaching and ministering to children. Michael is also a drummer and songwriter and is passionate about using the arts to reach kids.

Program Ministry Assistant

Originally from Washington D.C., April received her B.A. from Auburn in 1995. She and husband David have been married for 15 years. They moved to Auburn in 2000 and have been members at Cornerstone since 2005. Before starting their family, April worked in healthcare administration. She enjoys sports and travelling, and is passionate about discipleship. April and David have three children – Lindsey, Ben, and Erin.

Ali Van Tuyl

Assistant for Elementary Ministries

Ali is a student at Auburn University studying Education. She and her family have been attending Cornerstone since they moved to Auburn in 2004. She was involved with the Auburn High Theatre program and loves working behind the scenes in any setting. She has been volunteering in Kidztown since it was built and is really excited to be on staff and in a more involved position. She tutors elementary and high school kids in her spare time.
