About This Site

So you’re one of those kind of people that likes to look under the hood and see how things work, huh? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s start out by talking about how to get the most out of this web site:

Trouble Viewing The Site?

Are you having browser trouble viewing this site?  We have optimized everything on this site to comply with web industry standards for Internet browsers and if you are having trouble viewing content on the site it is most likely an Internet Explorer browser issue.  Due to the lack of standards followed by Microsoft Internet Explorer, this site is best viewed using Firefox (Mozilla), Safari, or Google’s Chrome, all of which are free to download.

If you have any questions at all please send us an email.

What is a Feed?

Most websites, including social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr, news sites like CNN, ESPN, and Fox News, or even your favorite shopping sites like Amazon and iTunes, all utilize what is commonly called feeds and usually noted with an orange feed icon like that seen on our feeds page.

A feed is a way to pull content from any website using many different types of applications.  When any site publishes new content, this content whether a video, podcast, or blog post, is then sent to a “feed” where anyone who is subscribed can then be notified through various ways such as email or an rss feed reader.

Feeds are important and drive much of the content on the Internet.  Everyone is busy and can’t always search each of their favorite sites for new content, so a feed will notify a person new content has been published and usually deliver that content or give you a link where you can find the published content.

At Cornerstone Church we publish new content each week like the sermon podcast from Sunday, ongoing prayer requests, and a weekly newsletter describing upcoming events.

What is RSS? How can I subscribe to site updates?

This site uses RSS (Real Simple Syndication) “feeds” which can be aggregated and displayed by what’s known as an RSS or Feed Reader. There are plenty of feed readers out there. We recommend Bloglines or Google Reader. Many newer web browsers (like Firefox and Safari) have readers built in.
